Tony was born and raised in southwest Minnesota as the sixth of seven children. His parents were divorced when he was a young child and, when his mother remarried, the family moved to Huron, South Dakota.
While attending James Valley Christian School north of Huron, God miraculously saved him during Tony’s junior year of high school. Also that year, through God’s providence, he met Ruth Anne Harmon, who he would later marry when they were students at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
After college, Tony and Ruth Anne lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and later moved to Grand Island. They have been blessed with a daughter, Liz, and a son, Andrew, both of whom graduated from JBU and now live in Arkansas. Tony came to work at GI Free in September 2015 after working 21 years at The Grand Island Independent as a copy editor and page designer.
Generally, my favorite book is the Bible and, specifically, the book of Psalms because it holds the highs and lows of everyday life in it and points to a loving, powerful God who is worthy of worship. My favorite non-Bible book is “Peace Like A River” by Leif Enger.
I Peter 5:6-7: Humble yourselves, therefore, under the might hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting your cares on him because he cares for you.
I love those verses because it tells me what I should be (humble) and who God is (mighty, timely, generous, gracious, and loving) if I trust him by being humble.

Those stores that serve food to you. Some people call them restaurants.
I love to read, to pet my cats (I have two), and watch Masterpiece on PBS with my wife.
